INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION IN HONG KONG: OVERVIEW FOR RUSSIAN PARTIES

Sanctions and external political pressure have resulted in decreased interest in “going West” for many Russian businesses. Some of them have already faced the inconvenience of paying arbitration fees in Europe. Unsurprisingly, Russian businesses are now increasingly looking towards neutral venues to resolve their disputes.

Can Hong Kong fill this niche and compete with the European venues traditionally preferred by Russian parties? Does Hong Kong address all of the current needs and meet the requirements of Russian businesses?
