Conference ‘Kiev Arbitration Days 2013: Think Big!’ Is Scheduled for November

Kiev Arbitration DaysThe Kiev Arbitration Days 2013: Think Big! will take place on November 14-15, 2013 in the Radisson Blu Hotel. The conference is conducted under the auspices of the Ukrainian Bar Association. CIS Arbitration Forum is a media partner of the conference.

The  event will bring together world-class dispute resolution practitioners and prominent arbitration experts to discuss problems and perspectives of international arbitration. Last year’s conference attracted the audience of 150 participants from 19 countries.

The conference will follow its traditional format: with Day 1 being devoted to international commercial arbitration and Day 2 focusing on international investment arbitration.

Day 1 will see speakers discuss issues like the arbitrator’s power to adjudicate, the role of experts in the decision making process of tribunals, the destiny of awards that have been set aside, and energy disputes. Day 2 will be dedicated to fundamental issues of investment protection, such as lenders’, governments’ and investors’ perspectives on risk, treaty structuring and tax planning, the chances and risks associated with government contracts and political risk insurance.

The conference will provide an opportunity for leading international arbitration experts to meet with their European and Ukrainian peers and will create new and promising possibilities of future cooperation.

This year Serhii Sviriba (Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev and Partners, Ukraine), Dr. Galina Zukova (White & Case LLP, France), and Dr. Irina Paliashvili (RULG, Ukraine) have joined the permanent members of the Organizing Committee of the conference: Dr. Sabine Konrad (McDermott Will & Emery LLP, Germany), Lisa Richman (McDermott Will & Emery LLP, USA), Mathias Wolkewitz (Wintershall Holding GmbH, Germany), Dr. Erhard Böhm (Specht Böhm Rechtsanwält GmbH, Austria) and Irina Nazarova (ENGARDE Attorneys at Law, Ukraine).
